About Martins Bakery


Welcome to Martin’s Bakery here in St Austell. A family of bakers for over 150 years, we have been supplying many households in the mid Cornwall area with fresh traditionally made bread and cakes for over 30 of those, using only the best quality ingredients and handed down recipes.


Our experienced team of bakers work throughout the night to ensure the freshness of every loaf of bread they produce.


Although bakery processes have changed dramatically over the last 50 years, we still believe the “old fashioned” method of making bread using the fermentation times and no artificial additives or preservatives is the only way to give bread that crisp crust and distinctive flavour that we are so well known for.

Over the years we have won many awards at various bakery competitions throughout the UK, culminating in winning the Western Region Baker of the year for 3 consecutive years.


This competition was entered by many bakeries from Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.

Like most businesses we are always looking for ways to improve and have recently sourced a range of jams and curds that are free from any artificial colours or flavours.


Our new lemon curd for example is made wholey from sicilian lemons and has a tangy zing to it that far surpasses any other lemon curd we have come across.
